How do I care for my abused dog?

Our family recently adopted a Beagle who is about 2 years old. We found her as a stray while taking a trip to Chicago one day. We decided to take her in because she needed a good home and lots of love. I am wondering if anyone knows of any good resources out there that help dog owners who want to rehabilitate their abused dogs. I would greatly appreciate any help that anyone could provide!

I adopted (rescued) an abused lab/shepherd who is one year old. I've had him since 5/30/06 . he is making lots of progress. we are attending dog obedience school once a week for 8 weeks which is very good for both of use. he came to me very timid, afraid, and insecure. He had issues with separation anxiety (rightly so). My advice is to enroll in a dog training class. You'll learn alot about yourself and your new dog will thank you for it. Love, discipline, exercise and rules make a happy dog! Good luck! (oh, I am reading a good book now. "Cesar's Way" by Cesar Millan) it will help your situation!
