Safety Commands To Teach During Boxer Dog Training
One goal of boxer dog training is to have a well-mannered dog that acts in ways allowed by humans. Such dog will not only make the owner proud but will also easily capture the hearts of many people, dog lover or not. Additionally, training will also assure the pet's safety knowing that he's reliably trained with the commands necessary in controlling him should emergency arises.
These commands include:
Sit.
Commanding your pet to sit just before crossing the street or when you see a car or stranger getting close can keep the two of you from possible issues like getting hit by a car.
Stay.
This command tells a dog to remain in whatever position he is until finally released. For example if you see a car getting close, giving the command “sit” and then “stay” will keep your pet in sit position until you release him when the car has passed by.
Heel.
The heel command is used if you want your dog to walk right beside your left leg. This is really useful when walking in busy and crowded streets.
Leave it.
Dogs, regardless of breed, are curious creatures. They usually tend to check out or sniff anything that attracts their attention. Giving the command “leave it” when he seems to be interested at something such as rubbish, table scraps and other objects on the floor can stop dangers such as choking or poisoning.
Drop it.
This is one important part of boxer dog training. “Drop it” can be used if it is too late for you to give the command “leave it”. Like for instance if your pet is running around the house with your socks hanging in his mouth, “drop it” must be used instead of chasing and yanking the item from him.
These are just a few of the numerous commands proven to keep your dog safe in various situations. By being patient and consistent when training these commands, you can be sure that your precious boxer dog is safe whatever scenario will arise.
