Meet the trainer...
Dog Training Made Simple and Kind
Training the positive way simplifies many exercises and makes them easy to learn. Also, understanding the psychology of the dog, you can train without having to put a lot of pressure into the exercises. That is the way I prefer, and my goal is happy and healthy dogs (and owners).
Certified Dog Behaviorist
Born and educated in Sweden, Kay is a certified dog behaviorist, with three years education and fifteen years professional practice including puppy training, basic and advanced obedience, obedience competitions, service and signal dogs, search and rescue, wilderness search, tracking, problematic behaviors etc.
What is a Swedish Dog Behaviorist?
A Swedish dog behaviorist's methods are based on: Ethology, Psychology, behavioral and stress-analysis, the dog's age, history, health and general condition, what relationship you and your dog have as well as how your dog has learned certain things. Unlike traditional training methods, which mainly focuses on singular behaviors, a Swedish dog behaviorist considers all factors and work with several different aspects of behavior and training simultaneously.
Problematic Dogs
As a dog behaviorist, I have extensive experience working with problematic behaviors in dogs. There may be many reasons for your dog's behavior and a closer look at these is necessary to find a lasting solution. After this evaluation, I can provide you with a personalized training program to establish the changes you want.
Training For Success
All training comes with an in-depth explanation "why" and "how to" with each exercise. It is based on reward and success, as well as structure and boundaries. There will be no rough handling of your dog, no yanking of the lead and no violence, simply because it's unnecessary and unhealthy. Instead, you will learn step by step how to work with your dog, in a friendly and loving way.
LECTURES
Ethology, Learning/Training Psychology, Breed Characteristics
I offer lectures on different topics, answering questions like: Why is my dog doing that? Why doesn't my dog pay attention to my commands? Why do dogs look so different and yet understand each other so well? Provides an excellent guide for all dog owners and for anyone who's planning to get a dog.
CLASSES AND WORKSHOPS
Group training has an important social function and offers excellent opportunities to learn and practice in a supportive environment.
Basic Everyday Obedience/Manners
Improves communication and cooperation with your dog. Includes: Contact, Sit, Down, Stay, Come, Heel, No, On and Off-leash, Activation.
Continuation Everyday Obedience/Manners
Gives you ample opportunity to improve basic obedience with precision and increased degree of difficulties, such as different distractions.
Search and Tracking
Most dogs can be trained to search or to track. Working with its nose is the most natural thing for dogs and they love it. We start with simple exercises and advance gradually, considering every individual's performance and motivation.
Workshop - Stimulating and Healthy Activities
By their very nature dogs need mental as well as physical stimulation. The activities in this workshop will make your dog satisfied and happy, they are easy, not time consuming and can be incorporated in every day routines.
Workshop: Dog-Walks - Real Life Practice
We go for walks together and practice manners mixed with fun activities. Provides you with ideas of how to enrich your dog-walks.
INDIVIDUAL TRAINING
Problematic Behavior
Take time and solve the little or big things that bother you about your dogs behavior. It's probably easier than you think! A one-on-one training session with Kay can help you understand the things your dog do and get both of you back on track.
Obedience Competition
Fine tuning and perfecting details to prepare for the competition.
Service/Signal Dogs, Smoke Alert etc.
Almost all dogs can be trained to assist in everyday situations, like opening doors, picking up or fetching things. Your dog can also be trained to alert, if you for instance have hearing problems or if a fire breaks out.
